NLI Solutions president honored with Outstanding Young Business Professionals award

MARKHAM, May 1, 2014 – Robert Martella, president of NLI Solutions, a provider of
distribution and fulfilment services, has been presented with an ASPIRE Award, honoring Markham’s outstanding business people under the age of 40.

The award is presented by the Markham Board of Trade’s Young Professionals Committee as a way to inspire the next generation of business leaders. Nominees for the ASPIRE (Achieving Social and Professional Ideals, Reaching Excellence) Awards must demonstrate business success, community involvement as well as being a role model and inspiration to others.

“Entrepreneurs know only too well that success in business, as in life, is not always easily achieved,” said Bill Hutton, Young Professionals Committee Chair.

In less than a decade Martella has grown an entrepreneurial start-up into a multi-million dollar corporation, employing more than 20 people at its Markham headquarters and servicing Canada-wide Tier 1 retailers and international markets.

The rapid growth of NLI Solutions (formerly New Line Incentives) from a two-person
operation to today’s multi-million dollar enterprise, has been powered by timely acquisition of key talent and employee programs rarely seen in a company that size. These programs, which include scholarships with local post-secondary education partners such as Seneca College, partnerships with local high school youth at risk programs, and a robust career development incentives program, set NLI Solutions apart.

“It is very humbling to receive this award and be recognized by my peers. Building a great company requires more than healthy profit margins. It requires inspiring and trusting each other to push beyond our comfort zone towards new challenges and opportunities,” said Martella.

The Board of Trade has been Markham’s premier business association for over 30 years. It represents 800 members, from large corporations to small business owners. The Board of Trade enhances the success of its members by offering exclusive programs and services to assist them in realizing their goals. It supports the business community at large by advocating on issues critical to the economic vitality and quality of life within the City of Markham.
